Here Is The Archetypal Expressionism!

Here Is The Archetypal Expressionism! Oil on board, 50x70 cm, 2012

This artwork was one of the most successful at my retrospective solo show, Bucovina Museum, Suceava, Romania, February 2012, much appreciated by art lovers and art journalists. Some days after the opening of the show, I had the pleasant surprise to know that a few young ladies had strange dreams with Frida Kahlo and even with my artwork and other intelectuals, from my home-city , looked for books on her art and bio.

This composition was inspired by a photo by Nickolas Muray and is full of selfirony, because Frida Kahlo, keeping an old Olmec statue in her hand, seems to tell us, Here is the Archetypal Expressionism!, my concept as a visual artist and she is probably right, because this concept is in the same time new and very old, reminding the archetypal art of the remote cultures.
