The Museum of Bucovina Suceava, in collaboration with The Library of Bucovina ’’I.G. Sbiera’’ Suceava and the County Council of Suceava are proud to present the International Graphic Art Contest – First Edition 2012.
The contest is born with the goal of promoting contemporary art and friendship among artists from all over the world.

2. Winners of the 54 group show artists release:
May 10, 2012 – All the 54 selected artists will send to the museum the artworks for the group show organized on the 8th of June, 2012. The deadline for the arrival of artworks is 10th of May 2012.

read my first novel, ”Esto’s Lover”, published by Curtea Veche publishing house, Bucharest, in 2010, and wrote a blurb on it for a possible English edition:

The catalyst to write this poem was a dream, followed by a long series of magic happenings. One night, in autumn 1994, I had an unexpected dream with the Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky, the first major innovator in music of the XXth century, though I had only a vague knowledge of him. But from that moment I began very interesed by his bio and works and I found a book at the Library of Bucovina, ”Stravinsky”, by Roman Vlad. The author, Stravinsky’s friend, was also from my region, Bucovina, born in Czernowitz city, now a famous composer in Italy, the former artistic director of Scala from Milan. After some weeks I have met in my home-city, Suceava, the Romanian composer, Viorel Munteanu (now, the rector of the Arts Academy ”George Enescu” in Iassy) , Vlad’s friend (he dedicated a book to Roman Vlad), born in Bucovina, too, who became my friend …

In the same period I had the privilege to meet in Suceava, too, the well-known Italian poet, Manrico Murzi, the disciple of Salvatore Quasimodo, one of my favourite poets as a teenager, who graduated L’Istituto Tecnico Economico Statale “Antonio Maria Jaci”. Manrico Murzi also became one of my best friends.

Some days ago I received by mail the medal and the diploma signed by Prof. Claudio Sergio Stazzone, the president of L’Istituto Tecnico Economico Statale “Antonio Maria Jaci” in Messina and the honorary president of the jury of the 2nd International Poetry Competition ”Messina Città d’Arte ”. I won the second prize, joint winner with the poet Silviya Petkova, from Bulgaria. The first prize was awarded to the Greek poet, Kostas Zacharopoulos. Many thanks to all the members of the jury, especially to those who judged the Foreign section of the contest: Dott. Benito Corrao, Dott.ssa Giovanna Logiudice, Dott.ssa Celestina Martino. Dott.ssa Giovanna Logiudice wrote and translated into English an impressive justification/reason to explain why the English version of my poem ”Improvisations on armonic key”, made by Prof. Dan Nicolae Popescu, won the prize, and I think this short text to describe it is itself a moving poem:

A series of symbolic paths, both an imaginary and a real land, where the traces of the past are mixed with the materialism of the contemporary age, draw and develop a scenery of light and dark moments like in a music drama, then they catch a stream of words expressed by a narrative voice which goes deep inside a complex sensitivity.

This international poetry contest is part of the Biennial of Painting, Sculpture, Photography and Poetry ”Messina Città d’Arte ”, and was founded by the visual artist and writer Biagio Cardia, the president of the Associazione Turismo Arte Spettacolo in Messina, the city of famous artist Antonello da Messina.

My poem awarded in Italy have been published, some weeks ago, on the site of an amazing project, Best Poems Encyclopedia, made by poetry lovers from East Tennessee State University, USA, and you may find it among the Best inspirational poems,

Yesterday, two members of the jury, Biagio Cardia (visual artist and writer, founder of ’’Irrealismo’’ Art Group) and Giovanna Logiudice (teacher of English and writer) announced me that the poem ’’The Alchemical City’’ (translated by Dan Nicolae Popescu, teacher of English at the University ’’Sthephen the Great’’, Suceava, Romania) won the second prize, ex-aequo with a poet from Bulgaria. I expressed my whole gratitude to all the members of the jury ruled by Claudio Stazzone, the president of L’Istituto Tecnico Economico Statale “Antonio Maria Jaci”, from the city of Antonella da Messina, and I promised them that the next edition of the Messina Biennale I’ll participate to the art competition.

This year I was focused on the poetry competition of ’’Messina Città d’Arte’’ 2011, because I love Italy and its great culture and I knew that one of the graduates of L’Istituto Tecnico Economico Statale “Antonio Maria Jaci”, founded in 1862, was the famous Italian poet Salvatore Quasimodo, one of my preferred poets, when I was a teenager. And I have the enormous chance and honour to be, since two decades, one of the friends of the Italian poet Manrico Murzi, from Genoa, known as the preferred disciple of Salvatore Quasimodo, a beautiful and strange coincidence offered by my destiny …

I hope next year I’ll find a good publishing house in order to publish my first book of collected poems in English and to take part to another prestigious poetry competition, the Montreal International Poetry Prize, the city of some beloved members of my family, and why not, to look for an Italian translator.

Dearest Constantin,
First of all, my congratulations for the prize won at the Messina Poetry contest with your
“La Città Alchemica”: I just stamped it, and I shall read it with calm as soon as I can.
I think it is something magic! I knew Quasimodo, I even was with him in his hometown,
and once we went to Tindari, high up on a promontory in the valley of Patti, where now they
have one of his short poems on a marble in the main square: there is a Greek theatre and a
basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary. I hope you can visit before or later! When I won the
contest “Premio Italia”, some years ago, the prize was a precious special big book with the
Odyssey translated by Quasimodo: the cover has a small application in bronze, and a few
watercolors by Manzù.
I am very busy in these days: conferences, articles to write, books to review, short trips…
I’ll write more.
